CHAPTER 1: A MODEL FOR NATURE
This paper provides a high level framework for how web3 can be used to engage and mobilize a community for the benefit of Nature.
It offers a model and pathway for Conservation 3.0 to navigate a feasible and sustainable system of profit and distribution that utilizes the technology, community and economies of web3 to activate and focus passive supporters into material contributors. A model that can rapidly scale as the participants in web3 continue to spike.
Untamed Planet commits 50% of its net profits to Nature as a ‘shareholder’, contributing to our mission of biodiversity preservation by protecting 100 million acres by 2030.
Nature's share of net profits that are generated from the Untamed Planet Metaverse, games and experiences will be distributed via our Nature Lab in pursuit of this mission.

NATURE
Nature connects all of us. It empowers us with a primal affinity to something greater; however, this universal connection has not seen us protect our most valuable asset.
The planet is currently at a tipping point. Humans' activity has had a massive impact on the biosphere. If we continue as we are, this will soon compound and we will lose most of the species that make up Earth's biodiversity.
According to the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services report,
”...an average of around 25 percent of species in assessed animal and plant groups are threatened, suggesting that around 1 million species already face extinction, many within decades, unless action is taken to reduce the intensity of drivers of biodiversity loss.
Without such action, there will be a further acceleration in the global rate of species extinction, which is already at least tens to hundreds of times higher than it has averaged over the past 10 million years”. (1)
Now is the time to stop irreversible damage to wildlife, vegetation, the planet and ultimately ourselves.
CONSERVATION’S EVOLUTION
In the early years, conservation was rage against the machine – chaining to trees, firebombing bulldozers, ramming whaling boats. Conservation 1.0.
The outrage formalized: behemoths like Greenpeace, The Nature Conservancy, and World Wildlife Fund rallied cross-cultural communities and governments to do more. These efforts have been monumental to protect our wild places, many of which would not now exist if it wasn’t for them. Conservation 2.0.
The rise of web3 brings the opportunity of Conservation 3.0: the mutual benefit and interdependence of personal interest and impact. An opportunity to drive mass engagement, participation and proceeds for the level of impact that protecting nature requires.
Untamed Planet is focussed on Conservation 3.0, a metaverse of infinite nature inspired experiences that generates and connects a community large enough and passionate enough to have impact at pace and at scale.
OUR ORIGINS
Untamed Planet evolved from a conservation organization that was looking for new ways to protect our wild places.
We started our ‘play to protect’ journey by creating the Untamed Planet Roblox game. 11 million unique users, conducted over 32 million sessions. Our community, simply through gameplay, raised funds to adopt a black rhino, help feed orphaned elephants and contribute to game rangers protecting gorillas. This became our proof of concept showing that we could rally a gaming audience to donate money for a nature-based cause.
Concurrently we watched the rise of web3 and blockchain gaming and became fixated on the mass opportunity to scale our learnings and early success beyond closed platforms.

Initially we will centrally design and conceive the experiences that make up Untamed Planet, bringing in and collaborating with world class partners to create the experiences that will excite our audiences and drive usage. The Untamed Planet Metaverse is intended for others to build nature-related games, and directly participate in the revenue that they generate. This incentivises all contributors as they build community alongside Untamed Planet.
It is designed to scale as the web3 market spikes to 1 billion+ users over the next few years, and to harness an initial audience of gamers, before expanding across entertainment, ecommerce and education as the market matures.

Untamed Planet is Conservation 3.0.
It takes the form of a metaverse of infinite nature-inspired experiences, and generates and connects a community large and passionate enough to have rapid impact at scale.
Untamed Planet is designed to be an 'experience first' metaverse, an ecosystem that is built from the infinite creative minds that are already connected to nature and who are starting to form a community and network of creators around us.
We have designed our metaverse economy to reward our creators and community alongside both Untamed Planet, and Nature as our primary shareholders.
Experiences in the metaverse will include games, galleries, ecommerce, education, entertainment and other social experiences. As our community engages with these experiences (and related collectables), fees will be generated and will contribute to the net profit we will share with Nature.
Experiences will be housed in Biomes, focussed clusters of experiences that are rolled out with a central core theme or IP partner. Each Biome will include:

NATURE LAB -
FROM DIGITAL TO THE REAL WORLD
Untamed Planet has committed 50% of its net profits to Nature. Nature Lab has been founded to manage this share of the profits on Nature’s behalf.
Nature Lab will appoint an advisory panel of leading biodiversity experts and advocates that are tasked with:

A Note on Metaverse models and economies:
The advent of web3, blockchain and NFTs has given rise to play-to-earn gaming models and powered metaverse projects.
These have markedly shifted the models and economies of gaming, providing opportunities for ownership, investment and income directly from the games. These models have elements of land, currency and NFTs and have built new economies that drive community and a sense of ownership alongside participation.
These games and metaverse worlds provide the creators an opportunity to develop significant revenue and capital increases through the management of digital assets and the sale of collectables.
